T_Debbora: Tonight we have How to Channel your Writing

kdot78: Hi there, thanks

WickedForYou: huh?

T_Debbora: Sponsored by PsychicSchoolHouse.com

TerriGHGIT: Hey Kdot!

kdot78: hey all

T_Debbora: Hello KDot

T_Brunhilde: I've never tried to "channel writing" before, so this is all new to me.

kdot78: this should be great

kdot78: me too

TerriGHGIT: New to me too

T_Brunhilde: Deb and Sharon are both excellent writers.

TerriGHGIT: I've been doing some writing lately. Working on short stories about D&D characters

T_Debbora: Sharon just called she's having trouble signing in

T_Brunhilde: That's great. The only thing I ever write is a syllabus.

TerriGHGIT: Syllabus?

T_Brunhilde: For courses, classes.

TerriGHGIT: Oh

WickedForYou: so what’s channeling your writing?

T_Brunhilde: We can ask Sharon when she signs on.

WickedForYou: O I SEE

WickedForYou: oops caps

kdot78: Deb, I haven't been getting the newsletters and stuff

T_Brunhilde: She's written 40 books.

T_Debbora: I just finished page 40 on part two of Dynamic Ghostology

T_Brunhilde: Hurrah! Can't wait to read that!

T_Brunhilde: I LOVED your first installment.

TerriGHGIT: Cool. I was wondering if you were ok, Debbora. I haven't heard from you lately.

T_Debbora: Just got into the fun part - Humans

T_Brunhilde: I quote you quite frequently.

kdot78: lol

T_Brunhilde: Sharon may have to "channel" this chat tonight.

TerriGHGIT: LOL

T_Debbora: LOL!

TerriGHGIT: I have a lap full of Pumpkin cat. Hard to type

kdot78: I have to come in through Mozilla

T_Brunhilde: Everyone concentrate really hard.

T_Brunhilde: "lap full of pumpkin cat?"

TerriGHGIT: My cat's name is Pumpkin

T_Debbora: The Internet has been hopping in an out here all day.

TerriGHGIT: He's big

T_Brunhilde: LOL!

T_Debbora: How much does he weight Terri?

kitty_kat667 has joined.

TerriGHGIT: Maybe 14lbs

T_Brunhilde: He's not in hearing distance, is he?

TerriGHGIT: Not fat, just big

T_Brunhilde: That's one BIG pumpkin.

T_Debbora: I love the big cats - hard to find anymore.

kdot78: and beautiful, long orangish hair

T_Debbora: Hi Kitty Kat

kdot78: is orangish a word?

T_Brunhilde: He's not fat--he's fluffy.

kitty_kat667: Hello

TerriGHGIT: I call him my red headed boy

T_Sharon has joined.

TerriGHGIT: He is orange and white but the orange is reddish on his back

T_Brunhilde: HURRA!

TerriGHGIT: Hey Sharon!

T_Brunhilde: Welcom.

T_Sharon: Yep, finally made it. Had to reboot to do it.

T_Debbora: I was adopted by a couple of cats that were 25 pound plus

kdot78: WOW

T_Debbora: Internet is quirky here today.

T_Sharon: That latest link you sent refused to do the job, Deb. It kept telling me the website wasn't there.

TerriGHGIT: Punkie would be that if I fed him Greenies like he'd like. LOL

TerriGHGIT: Yeah, I had to go to the site to join

T_Debbora: Like I said the Internet has been popping on and off all day.

T_Sharon: I used an older link. Don't know why that one worked and the newest didn't. They're both the same -

T_Debbora: Ok, Sharon is Hosting the Chat tonight on Channeling.

T_Sharon: Aha! Is that what they call it? Hosting?

angelwings has joined.

TerriGHGIT: LOL

angelwings: hi

T_Sharon: Does anyone have any questions to start us off?

T_Debbora: Oh yeah your baby now - lead on.

angelwings: whose the creator?

T_Debbora: Perhaps you could start by explaining what channeling is?

T_Sharon: Good question to start

T_Sharon: Who is the creator is what you mean, but you used the wrong form of who's.

angelwings: what does the T mean

angelwings: ?

TerriGHGIT: Teacher

T_Sharon: The T means teacher. should have gotten the hint

Guest_97085 has joined.

T_Debbora: Welcome to the PsychicSchoolHouse.com chat

T_Sharon: Okay, here's where we start. Does anyone have experience with trying to write?

TerriGHGIT: I'm working on some short stories for D&D characters

T_Brunhilde: Only courses.

T_Sharon: When you want to write, you first have to "waste time" daydreaming.

TerriGHGIT: I do that a lot.

T_Sharon: You have to picture the world you want to write about, letting the scene set itself and just follow

T_Sharon: You want to watch what's happening, and then you can write about it. If you don't know what's going

T_Sharon: When you start to write, just let the words and ideas flow without trying to direct them.

T_Sharon: If you don't like what you've written you can always redo it. The main thing is to get the flow going

TerriGHGIT: Right

T_Sharon: I keep getting these red messages from the administrator. I think I'm going to have to beat up the a

T_Brunhilde: Violence in channeling, I love it.

TerriGHGIT: When am in the mood to write, I kind of see the story in my head, like a movie and I have to write i

T_Sharon: Violence is very useful in all walks of life.

T_Brunhilde: I agree.

TerriGHGIT: I just have to write it down

T_Sharon: That's what you're supposed to do when you see those scenes in your head.

T_Brunhilde: I like the idea of making yourself receptive to the flow.

TerriGHGIT: And often the first idea that I had suddenly becomes this whole intricate story

T_Brunhilde: Not trying to control it.

T_Sharon: There have been times when a story line refused to let me live or sleep. I had to write until I drop

TerriGHGIT: Much more in depth than what I originally thought.

T_Sharon: You don't control the flow, it controls you.

T_Debbora: LOL I've had a couple of those!

T_Brunhilde: Very interesting.

T_Sharon: If you're smart you don't fight the flow. If you try, you'll mess things up.

TerriGHGIT: Yeah, I had to stay up one night until I got part of a story down.

TerriGHGIT: Boy was I sleepy at work the next day!

T_Sharon: The flow doesn't care how tired we get. It just takes over and makes us do the job.

T_Debbora: The "fast feed" story just about kills you! LOL!

T_Sharon: Tell me about it.

TerriGHGIT: I usually kind of have an idea on how the story begins and ends

T_Brunhilde: Sharon, do you have a certain set of conditions you create in yourself or in your immediate environment.

TerriGHGIT: Then things develop from there.

T_Sharon: You can have an idea, but don't insist on it. I tried that once and wasted my time.

T_Sharon: What I do is play three games of solitaire, and then I'm ready to work.

TerriGHGIT: Most of what I write these days are elaborate stories for my D&D characters.

T_Brunhilde: Does the idea spring up on you suddenly?

TerriGHGIT: They start out simple and then become like a big spider web. LOL

T_Sharon: The ideas never stop coming. Everything you see and hear has its own story to tell.

T_Sharon: You have to learn to stick to one - or two - storylines at a time. Otherwise you'll regret it.

T_Sharon: As I said, the first thing you have to do is relax and let the ideas flow out.

kdot78: makes sense

T_Sharon: I used to picture a band of static over my head, and I'd grow an invisible ... cable of sorts to reach it.

T_Sharon: Once I reached the band of static I'd be connected to the world I was currently writing about.

T_Sharon: Now I just have to reread some of what I wrote the last time and i'm back in the right place.

T_Sharon: Anyone have some kind of problem with writing that they'd like to ask about?

T_Brunhilde: You can pick up where you left off?

T_Sharon: Yep, right where I left off. The story continues in my head until I write it down, and then I'm free

T_Brunhilde: Music composers say that, too.

TerriGHGIT: I have problems trying to decide whether I am going into too much detail

T_Debbora: - At least until you get to the editing...LOL

TerriGHGIT: or not enough

T_Brunhilde: the melody is in their head and they can't rest until they put it on paper.

T_Sharon: Sometimes that freedom isn't too good. I wrote a few chapters of one of my series books, and now can

T_Sharon: The book part I wrote is gone.

T_Sharon: As for editing, that calls for a different hat - or attitude. Not the same as writing.

TerriGHGIT: The story I am writing now is about the past of a young elf girl.

T_Sharon: When you write, just let it flow. When you edit, then you can get critical.

TerriGHGIT: I'm trying to decide if I need to skip certain things or move the story along

T_Debbora: Hi Boz

T_Debbora: Welcome to the PsychicSchoolHouse.com chat

boz21m: wats that mean?

TerriGHGIT: to move the story along I mean

T_Sharon: You usually have to move the story along. Time to put in extras comes later.

T_Debbora: We're having a channeling chat tonight.

boz21m: bout wat?

T_Debbora: How to channel your writing.

boz21m: o ok

T_Sharon: Or you can put in everything you pick up and edit some of it out later.

T_Brunhilde: Sharon, do you write it all at your computer or by hand?

T_Brunhilde: I have writer friends that used notebooks.

T_Sharon: I used to use notebooks, but these days I'm high tech. That means lazy, because...

T_Sharon: because if I don't hand-write I don't have to type it all later.

T_Brunhilde: Makes more sense.

TerriGHGIT2: My dsl booted me

Lady_In_Florida_35: hello

TerriGHGIT2: And now there are 2 of me.

T_Debbora: Sorry Terri

T_Brunhilde: Bad dsl!

T_Debbora: Hello Lady

T_Sharon: How does it feel to be twins?

TerriGHGIT2: Strange...

T_Debbora: Welcome to the PsychicSchoolHouse.com chat

T_Brunhilde: Good Terri/Bad Terri.

T_Sharon: Then you should fit right in here.:[

T_Sharon: Oops. That should have been :]

TerriGHGIT2: LOL Well, I was strange before I came in here.

T_Sharon: As I said, that means you fit right in.

T_Brunhilde: But your cat loves you, so it is o.k.

TerriGHGIT2: LOL

T_Debbora: Ahh but we're better when we're bad!

T_Sharon: I honestly don't know how anyone else writes their books.

TerriGHGIT2: What I was going to say before leaving unexpectedly...

T_Brunhilde: Sharon, what are you working on currently?

T_Sharon: I heard of one woman who did a hundred page synopsis for a hundred and twenty-five page book.

T_Brunhilde: LOL!

TerriGHGIT2: I often wonder if I put too much detail in

T_Sharon: I'm one chapter away from finishing Dead Heat, the second in the Taz Bell series.

TerriGHGIT2: I wonder if others are interested in me going into that much detail

T_Brunhilde: One Chapter away...

T_Debbora: I hate writing synopsis - waste of time.

T_Sharon: Finish the book first and then ask someone to read it.

T_Brunhilde: Do you already have it set out in your mind?

kdot78: I enjoy your detail, it makes me feel like I'm there

T_Sharon: My synopses are more a work of fiction than the book...

T_Sharon: That means I don't know what's going to happen until I write it down.

T_Brunhilde: \LOL!

T_Debbora: Me either

T_Sharon: Oh, you mean the last chapter. Yes, I know now what's going to be in it, but not in detail.

T_Sharon: I have to write it to get the details.

T_Debbora: Ball park idea - the rest is channeled in slowly (hopefully)

T_Brunhilde: Ohh...

TerriGHGIT2: Yes, it’s weird how sometimes characters tell you things about them that you

TerriGHGIT2: didn't know

T_Sharon: It comes in as it happens, so to speak. I can't know about that until I hook in.

TerriGHGIT2: But you are writing the story, so you should know. If that makes sense?

T_Sharon: You can only have a vague idea. The story tells itself, and you can't fight the story.

T_Sharon: If you try to fight, you'll only mess things up.

TerriGHGIT2: I think I know the character but then I find out I really don't. LOL

TerriGHGIT2: Its like they tell their story to me

T_Sharon: Yes. I told one editor who the main characters in one book were, and then I had to ...

T_Sharon: ...had to go, Oops. Someone snuck in and now he won't go away.

TerriGHGIT2: LOL

T_Sharon: If you write the way I do, you really don't have a lot of control. That's why I call myself a glorified scribe.

T_Debbora: It happens - hams in cyberspace!

T_Sharon: Any questions I missed?

T_Brunhilde: Glorified what?

TerriGHGIT2: I am currently writing short stories but its getting kind of long. LOL

T_Sharon: Glorified secretary. A secretary is an often excellent person who does a hard job. I'm just pretending.

T_Brunhilde: LOL!

TerriGHGIT2: Since the 3 stories I am writing are connected, they may end up being a book

T_Sharon: I can't write short stuff. almost all my short stories were cheats in that they were chapter one.

T_Brunhilde: HA!

TerriGHGIT2: LOL

T_Sharon: And I could pick up just about any of them right now and continue on.

T_Brunhilde: Sharon, did you always write this way?

T_Sharon: Charlie Fontenay was a great short story writer. I don't have that talent.

Scag-Monkey has joined.

T_Debbora: At least there one chapter cheats - I one here that end winked out at chapter 30

T_Sharon: I've never written any other way.

T_Brunhilde: Okay.

T_Sharon: when I was a kid I wrote kid stuff. Like really bad poetry that was actually messing around.

T_Sharon: Anyone want an example?

TerriGHGIT2: Sure

T_Brunhilde: Sure.

TerriGHGIT2: I wrote weird stuff as a kid. Imagine... LOL

T_Sharon: I did this in High School: Halloween is here, boo hoo, the holiday I hate the most...

T_Sharon: No one believes me when I say I really truly am a ghost.

T_Sharon: Well, it rhymes.

TerriGHGIT2: LOL

TerriGHGIT2: I wrote a story about the Salem witchcraft trials when I was in 10th grade.

T_Sharon: so.. anyone get the point?

T_Brunhilde: Yes, your creativity is enabled by the flow.

T_Brunhilde: You have to make yourself receptive to it.

T_Sharon: I wonder if it's *my* creativity. Maybe it's just the story wanting to be told.

T_Debbora: Hi Downtime

T_Debbora: Welcome to PsychicSchoolHouse.com's chat.

T_Sharon: Only one of us is here doubled.

T_Brunhilde: LOL!

DownTime67: No, i think you are all the same people

T_Sharon: Oh, yes, no more double

T_Debbora: Did you meet yourself coming in?

DownTime67: double trouble

T_Brunhilde: I think I saw myself leaving.

kdot78: lol

TerriGHGIT2: I did see myself leave

T_Debbora: Down Time  PsychicSchoolHouse.com

T_Sharon: I wish I *couldn't* see everyone leaving. It's really annoying. Who cares where they went?

T_Brunhilde: Sharon, you said you play card to initiate a channeling session?

T_Sharon: So what's your point?

T_Sharon: No, just to clear my mind.

T_Brunhilde: Playing solitaire to empty your mind.

T_Sharon: I don't freak, some of the others do.

T_Sharon: Not empty, letting my mind center on where I want to be. Another world, another life.

T_Brunhilde: Okday.

T_Sharon: You want to fill your mind, not empty it.

TerriGHGIT2: I pick the world of the character I'm writing about and imagine myself as that person

T_Brunhilde: Let it fill.

T_Sharon: It's like listening to music when I drive. It lets me pay attention to the driving instead of other

T_Brunhilde: I understand that.

T_Brunhilde: Same here.

T_Sharon: You have to *feel* yourself as that other person if you write in first person.

TerriGHGIT2: The solitaire kind of sets your mood to be open

T_Sharon: Yes, that's the way it works. But I can't listen to music when I work. It's too distracting.

T_Brunhilde: I can't either, and I am a musician.

T_Debbora: Me either or a TV.

TerriGHGIT2: Music tells a story to me

TerriGHGIT2: So yes, it’s very distracting

T_Sharon: Sometimes even birds chirping can distract me, but not always.

T_Debbora: Me too and it gives me images too.

T_Debbora: No good when writing new material.

T_Brunhilde: Not me, I start to analyze it.

T_Sharon: The tree outside my office window sometimes thinks too loud.

T_Brunhilde: And suddenly, I am right back in freshmen theory class.

T_Sharon: With the old rock, I stop and sing along.

T_Debbora: Ahh, a noisy elemental!

T_Sharon: For some reason I know the words to more songs than I thought possible.

T_Brunhilde: Tell me about the thinking tree.

T_Sharon: My tree loves having birds land on him. He tells me because he knows I like to watch the birds.

T_Debbora: LOL

T_Brunhilde: Very distracting?

T_Sharon: At times my tree tries to croon to the birds to lure them into his branches.

T_Brunhilde: what sounds do you hear?

T_Sharon: Yes, it's distracting if I'm not firmly hooked into the story I'm writing.

T_Sharon: It isn't sound. It's an awareness of sorts, a feeling that says, "Hey, look at this."

T_Debbora: Telepathic?

T_Sharon: Could be.

T_Sharon: I tend to think of telepathy as from other humans. This isn't anything like that.

T_Brunhilde: I like that phrase, "awareness of sorts." I get that, too.

T_Sharon: I get it stronger from animals. My neighbor's dogs like me, and not just because I spoil them with t

T_Debbora: But all composite entities are telepathic, animals, trees, people - just different vibrationial frequencies.

T_Sharon: It even works with wasps. There's a nest on one door of my shed, and the wasps don't even stir now when I go in there to get the

T_Debbora: channels

T_Sharon: Lawnmower.

T_Sharon: Yes, different channels, yet all the same, too

T_Debbora: Exactly

T_Brunhilde: I agree. I'm trying to establish a rapport with a spider.

T_Sharon: If I open wide I can almost hear the grass growing - in spite of my saying, "Stop growing so much!"

T_Sharon: Oh, spiders are lovely.

T_Debbora: Tough job there, spiders are more "stuck up" than cats.  LOL

T_Brunhilde: And huge.

T_Brunhilde: I know he senses me every time I come out on the porch.

T_Sharon: I love big spiders. Would love to share my house with them - if there wasn't the ...

T_Sharon: possibility of war between them and the cats.

T_Brunhilde: There would be.

T_Sharon: I know.

T_Debbora: I've seen some whoppers here.

T_Sharon: Wolf spiders are gorgeous. They look like baby tarantulas. I'd love to have a tarantula.

T_Brunhilde: Do you ever write about that sort of awareness of other creatures in your books?

T_Debbora: My daughter's BF hates then, trys to kill them...

T_Debbora: I told him to leave them alone!  Or

T_Sharon: In a manner of speaking... I'm writing a shape shifter right now, and she hates...

T_Debbora: I would have his butt out on the patio eating bugs!

T_Sharon: ...what she is. But she's going to have to come to terms with it and let it get closer.

T_Debbora: He stopped instantly...LOL

T_Brunhilde: Shape shifter, tell me more..

T_Sharon: She was a cop in NYC, and she and her partner were attacked by shifters...

T_Sharon: ... Her partner is killed, but she's infected. She can't be a cop anymore because of what happened..

T_Debbora: This is the PsychicSchoolHouse.com chat

T_Brunhilde: And the ability to shape shift, in your story where does it come from?

T_Brunhilde: A virus?

T_Brunhilde: Or genetic?

T_Sharon: ...so she becomes a rogue hunter. Her dead partner comes back as a freerroaming ghost.

T_Sharon: The shape shifting ability is passed on through attack. In the second book you get a back story.

T_Sharon: The first book is Dead Heat, now being sold on the website.

T_Sharon: Book two should be out in a couple of weeks.

T_Sharon: Bobby promised to do the book as soon as he gets it.

T_Debbora: Good luck!

T_Brunhilde: I was always intrigued by legends and myths of shape shifters.

T_Sharon: Tell me about it. Bobby is now in Chattanooga at Libertycon.

T_Brunhilde: Gaming, I suppose?

T_Debbora: I know he called me from Atlanta at noon.

T_Sharon: I did a different series with shape shifters, but this one takes place in our world and our here-and-

T_Debbora: No at a convention.

kdot78: I have to go. I have really enjoyed the chat tonight. Good night all, see you soon.

T_Debbora: Night thanks for coming!

T_Brunhilde: Good to see you back in the line-up tonight.

T_Sharon: Good night, kdot

T_Sharon: Have we made up for the late start? I need a cold drink of soda.

TerriGHGIT2: I'm back. Had to help Mama. LOL

T_Debbora: Look for this chat posted on the site...

T_Debbora: In the library.

T_Sharon: always smart to help mama.

TerriGHGIT2: I was reading the prior stuff

TerriGHGIT2: LOL

T_Sharon: Okay, folks, I'm out of here. Have a great night.

T_Brunhilde: I left for a few minutes earlier.

T_Brunhilde: Sharon, great chat!

T_Sharon: Thank you, m'dear

TerriGHGIT2: I'm afraid I need to go too. I have work tomorrow. Been trying to get more sleep lately

TerriGHGIT2: Yes, thank you Sharon

T_Sharon: Sleep?  What's that?'

T_Brunhilde: Really enjoyed it. Very informative.

TerriGHGIT2: Sleep is our friend.

T_Sharon: You're all very welcome. We'll do this again next month, I guess.

T_Debbora: Great chat Sharon!

T_Brunhilde: Please, that would be great.

T_Sharon: Bye all. Thanks for coming.

TerriGHGIT2: Have a good night

TT_Brunhilde: Terri, good to hear from you again.

TerriGHGIT2: Thank you. I always enjoy the chats.

T_Brunhilde: Me, too. If only I could type better. LOL!

TerriGHGIT2: Debbora, I will try to call you tomorrow night if that is ok?

T_Debbora: That is fine.

TerriGHGIT2: You do fine

TerriGHGIT2: I'm not going to be running around like a crazy woman this weekend. LOL Good Night.

T_Debbora: Just working on the book - butt in chair!  LOL

T_Debbora: You too goodnight.

T_Brunhilde: Blessed Be.

T_Debbora:  Thank you all for attending Scrying Part 2.  Thank you Brunhile for teaching. Great Job!
