Several months back while I was attending a Life Expo, two couples who where paranormal investigator hobbyist came up to my table and asked me if it was possible for paranormal entities they were investigating in another location to follow them home. They related that recently their young children had begun seeing ghosts in their home that were suspiciously like the one they had seen weeks before in an investigation. Their children were having nightmares. I said that not only is it possible for them as paranormal investigators but everyone is at risk.

Today you can buy almost anything from a catalog, a department store or an online store and in less than a week it’s in your house. What you can't know is whether or not that new item was sitting for months in haunted warehouse in China, Russia or Bulgaria before you got it. You can’t know if the item (new or old) was in a place that had to be exorcised. You can’t know if the parts that make up that item were involved in ritual or worse, or might be inhabited by something you didn't pay for.

This risk is even higher if you are a collector of antiques or bazaar objects, or used furniture or yard sale items. Consider the home that bought a set of bunk beds from a newspaper ad—only to discover after a lot of pain and upset that the bed was inhabited with the spirit of a serial killer. Or in another case, where a man inherited a mantle clock only to find out it had a nasty elemental living in it. You also cannot know if rituals or burials or some unpleasant incident took place in your current house or on the land where your house sits that may have opened portals to your home. All of these things can cause unpleasant nonphysical happenings, chaos, sickness, money pit homes and just plain rotten luck to manifest in our homes.

Over the last few years popular TV shows like Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, and Ghostly Encounters and other scientific studies have showed us that nonphysical energies and entities (ghosts) are very real. These investigations have collected a vast library of EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomena) recordings of ghostly voices, miles of video tape evidence, infrared photography, high speed photos and hundreds of personal experiences. We can't escape that nonphysical entities and energies are a part of our daily lives. We can’t escape that they live on this world with us. We can’t escape the fact that they can, at any moment, wander into unprotected homes and create fear and chaos for us.

We can, however, control our own environment! Here are the ways to test and eliminate and SEAL a house against these threats.

We live in a super fast paced world. We are surrounded by electronic devices and fields all day long with cell phones, TV’s, radios, iPods, computers, and the list goes on and on. With all these electronic fields radiating into your aura body all day long, you will be hard pressed to even know when something nonphysical or someone else’s aura body vibes are creating chaos for you. All kinds of things radiate from other peoples aura bodies including leaking emotions, pain, worry, anger, excitability, depression and tons of psychic trash. Learning to shield in this people rich environment and in dangerous situations can not only save you a lot of pain and frustration, but can bless you to live with peace.

All object that come into close contact with living things carry residual energy. All elements, plants and animals carry aura body energy just like people do. All these things—moving or not—carry intelligent energy. While that is wonderful and expected, what is NOT expected is to find “cold negative energies” embedded in objects.

There are four ways that negative energies become embedded in objects. 1. By long exposure to a living energy—like an elemental—residual. 2. By a default charge—like someone blessed an object with your specific name to protect you, like a piece of jewelry or a charm—then when it is given to someone else, it acts up (Thought-Form energy charge). 3. By reprogramming a living spirit to embed in an object through a ritual, spell or ceremony. 4. Or it can be in association of something “contaminated.” Like when objects are exposed to strong violence, strong pain or negative energy in association to people.

All of these things can alter the energy and behavior of objects. Two years ago I developed the F.E.E.L. Touch Test so anyone can learn to test the objects in their home for negative charge. It’s easy to learn and it will save you a lot of grief. Knowing to use this easy method allows you to check objects, furniture, food, clothing, appliances and anything—before it enters your home.

Nothing strikes more fear in the hearts of parents than when a young child comes to them and tells them they just saw an Uncle Martin that died ten years ago, or a ghost or other oddities in their environment, like a moving shadow or red eyes glowing in the dark. A child suffering from regular nightmares (occasional is normal) will disrupt an entire household and make zombies out of parents.

The fact is that there is nothing more psychic on earth than a child under the age of seven. At this stage in their life, they are broadband psychic receiver and often see both the physical and nonphysical world as ONE world. Learning to understand the sight of children can create much peace of mind, for you and your home. Also finding the right tools to ease fears and can help children cope with the psychic sight can be a great balm to you and your home. So understanding the nature of children is critical to home peace.

Salt is one of the most basic needs of mankind. We all need salt to survive. Yet at the same time salt with its grounding properties, is one of the most powerful ways to remove residual energy build up in homes and in objects. It also cleans “psychic trash” out of aura bodies and repels and removes charge from objects. If you are not using salt as a basic cleaner—you need to know all the ways this simple element can calm, ground and bless you life.

As I mentioned above, all homes are at risk from the unknown. So your best defense against dark nonphysical things moving into your home and setting up housekeeping is to learn to bless your own house with angels. Let’s be real here. You can’t control every dark being in the world; there is too much evidence to show that they live on this world with us. But you CAN take control of your own home, business and property and keep that clean and sealed against the forces of darkness.

In ancient times, when a house was built it was routinely blessed and dedicated before the family moved into that dwelling. The ancients had a good understanding that we live in a world where a full two-thirds of our environment is made up of entities and energies we can’t see. These “unseen” things can often manifest themselves later as paranormal activities which can bring chaos and other unpleasant things into the quiet enjoyment of your home.

House blessings and combinations of the house blessings are done all over the world. In India, the house blessing goes into almost every house as regularly as anyone else in the world adds a stove or a sink. It is a very engrained and positive part of their beautiful culture. In Japan, they have experts that work with these house energies by allowing a Feng Shui expert or master to come into the home or business to balance the energy in a home by arranging the furniture and items inside and then they seal and bless the home. Irish house blessings are common in Ireland, and even in Australia the Aboriginal people perform house blessings to protect their “dream time” spaces and prevent nightmares. So house blessing are still in use today—and for good reason.

Finding someone in the United States to do a house blessing for you might prove to be a problem if you live in a small town or in a rural area. People living in large cities often have a better chance of finding people who can offer these services. However, the cost of a house blessing can cost as much $250.00 plus materials. LUGHNASA: Pronounced “LOU-nah-sah.” Festival occurs around August 1^st. Spelled variously: Lughnasa, Lughnassad, Lughnasadh. Also called Lammas.

The Sun Marches On

Although the outside temperature may still feel hot, we have made a definite turn towards winter. Lughnasa marks the midway point between the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox. You may have noticed that the days are getting a little shorter. What time does your sun rise and set now? Your sun is actually rising several minutes later in the morning than it did during the Summer Solstice in June. Your sun is also setting several minutes sooner than it did at that time. Why? Because the sun is moving on your horizon again. It had stopped moving at the Summer Solstice (sun still). At that time it was rising in the northeast and setting in the northwest. But now it is on the march once more, moving towards the south on your distant horizon. It is heading for its due east and due west alignment. The sun will arrive there at the next sabbat on the Wheel of the Year, Mabon—the Fall Equinox. Only at the equinoxes does the sun truly rise in the east and set in the west.

Try to witness the sunrise and sunset around August 1^st. If possible, mark where the sunrise appears on your eastern horizon and where the sunset appears on your western horizon. Compare the sunrise and sunset markers that you make now to the sunrise and sunset points that will occur at the next sabbat, Mabon.You will be able to see how much your sun has moved on your horizon. Ancient races of humans would have been closely tracking the movements of the sun on their horizon. They would have concluded that the summer was over and the time to prepare for the long harvest was upon them.

What seasonal changes are evident in your area? Make note of them. The earth is well aware that the energy from the sun is decreasing. The sun is arcing lower in the sky and spending less time overhead. All the earth is anticipating the approach of autumn. How do the animals and the vegetation in your area respond?

Seasonal Energies & Themes

Lughnasa is the first sabbat in the trilogy of harvest festivals. The three are: Lughnasa, Mabon and Samhain. Lughnasa marked the beginning of the harvest season and the decline of summer into winter. On the Wheel of the Year, shown in Figure 2, Lughnasa is a cross-quarter holiday, a Greater Sabbat. This holiday is also called “Lammas” from the Saxon word Hlaf-mass, the Feast of Bread. Their festival emphasized the harvest of items often used in the making of bread: wheat, oats, corn and barley.

Our ancestors performed rituals to ensure the success of the harvest and the health of the workers. Special prayers were said to bless the fields and to sustain the harvest crews, who must now toil all day and into the night clearing the fields of produce before winter. Our modern day celebrations such as Labor Day retain some of the elements of this holiday.

I often choose to celebrate this holiday by saluting the workers among us. You can show your appreciation for those people in your life, those hard-working, dependable souls who don’t often receive much honor or recognition. Seek out those folks in your life. They are often taken for granted. Honor them and this sabbat by doing something to show your appreciation for all their efforts.

Home Altar Ideas

One way to stimulate your awareness of Lughnasa is to decorate your home altar or sacred space in a harvest motif. Seasonal incenses would include frankincense, sandalwood, or any other scent that evokes the harvest to you. Appropriate candle colors would be harvest colors: yellow, orange, green, and brown. You can decorate with corn, corn dollies, sunflowers, and any other vegetation that is natural to your local environment. What items are being harvested in your local area at this time? You can include them, too. Select some objects that represent the agricultural tools of the harvest: little replicas of hand tools, baskets, kettles, a scythe or a sickle. Also, you can select some object that represents your work, something you use in your career.

Lughnasa Ritual Ideas

And what kind of ritual is appropriate for Lughnasa? I usually perform a ceremony that seeks to assist the worker. The worker can be me, or I devote the ritual to assisting the work of someone else. How? By charging or blessing the tools of his/her trade.

You may not be harvesting vast fields but modern humans have concerns that parallel our ancestors. We often pray for a successful completion to our latest assignment at work. Perhaps you have been working on a project that has now come to fruition and you are ready to present your results. For your Lughnasa ritual, you can choose to charge an object that will be used in your presentation. Charging an object means that you consecrate an object during your ritual and ask your spirit helpers to bless the object.

Choose something from your workplace, something from your room or office at work that is connected to your project. Select your object ahead of time and place it on your altar.

Right before you begin your ritual, put a bit of bread and a glass of wine or juice on your altar. These two items will represent the harvest.

A RITUAL FOR LUGHNASA

On some evening around August 1^st, arrange to be undisturbed. Take a cleansing bath. Or mist yourself with scented or salted water. Play soothing music or arrange for quiet.

Light the candles on your altar.

Gaze into the light and meditate on what you wish to accomplish in this ritual.

You are going to charge an object that represents your work.

Light the incense. Breathe it in for a few minutes to calm your thoughts. When you are ready to begin, close your eyes.

Engage your abdominal breathing. Inhale and expand your abdomen. Then exhale and contract your abdomen. If stray thoughts intrude, block them out and focus again on your breathing and your abdominal muscles—expand, contract.

Create your psychic shield with three large breaths. Move your arms out, away from your body, guiding the shield outward. Make the sphere of your shield large enough to enclose your sacred space.

Drop your arms to your side. Open your eyes.

Call out to your spirit guides or guardian angels. Invite them to listen to you now in your sacred space.

Salute the sabbat. Verbally recognize the occasion of the First Harvest. Thank the earth for the abundance of the produce in the fields that will now be harvested. The energy of the sun and the fertility of the earth have combined over the past several months to bring forth nourishment and sustenance for animals and humans alike. Pledge to never take the harvest for granted.

Statement of Intent

Pick up the object you wish to charge. Hold it in both of your hands. Make a statement concerning the goal of your magick this night. You wish to charge an object for use in the successful completion of your work.

Close your eyes. Imagine white energy flowing out of your body and into your hands. This energy starts to build up in your hands, getter brighter and brighter.

Now, you want to discharge that hand energy into the

object until the object starts to glow with that white light. Mentally push the white energy from your hands into the object—three times. Each time, inhale and build up white energy in your hands. Then exhale hard each time, as you push. You can even say, “PUSH!” Sustain your image until you feel the object grow warm in your hands.

End by making an emphatic statement, such as,

“For the greater good and with harm to none, as I will, so mote it be done!” Then stomp your foot, emphatically. Place the object back on your altar. Relax.

Pick up the bread. Give thanks to the earth for the harvest. . If you are performing your ritual with others, say to each person, “May you never hunger.” Eat some of the bread, savoring the taste. Pledge never to take the food for granted

Pick up the wine or juice. Again, give thanks to the earth for the harvest. If you are performing your ritual with others, say to each person, “May you never thirst.”

Drink some of the beverage, savoring the taste. Pledge never to take the drink for granted.

Give thanks to your spirit guides for hearing your request. Look forward to success on your project! You can now end your ritual.

Close your eyes. Reconnect to your abdominal breathing. Extend your arms straight out from your sides. Retract your psychic shield back into you, using three large breaths. Slowly move your arms back in towards your body, guiding the collapse of your shield back into you.

Open your eyes and relax. Respectfully extinguish the candles and the incense with a snuffer. Or leave them burning, if it is safe to do so.

Take the remaining food and drink from your altar and leave it outside for the animal spirits. It is a way of saying “thank you” to Nature.

Now is the time for food, drink and reflection. Write down any impressions you received during your ritual. Bring the charged object from your ritual to your work space. Every time you see it, remember that you have asked for assistance. Now it is time to do your part and work hard for success!
