The Next Holiday Lughnasa Chat: July 24, 2008
Taught by T_Brunhilde
T_Brunhilde: So tonight we will start off talking about Lughnasa and go from there.
TerriGHGIT: ok
T_Brunhilde: Because we always seem to go from there...
InkedUpMonstar: yeah I love lughnasa
SuperShyGirl: lol
T_Brunhilde: Lughnasa was the old pagan celebration at the start of harvest.
T_Brunhilde: Back in the Stone Age, Neolithic Period.
T_Brunhilde: We are coming up on that holiday now.
kung_fu_panda: trying to work out the equinox
InkedUpMonstar: I thought it all came from italy Brunhilde, is that not correct?
T_Brunhilde: No, actually it comes from several sources.
T_Brunhilde: All ancient cultures had there own harvest festivals.
InkedUpMonstar: so it doesnt all come from Italy
T_Brunhilde: All this emphasis on food is making me hungry.
T_Brunhilde: Lughnasa is named after the god Lugh.
T_Brunhilde: He was a ancient warrior/hero.
T_Brunhilde: I am referring to the Irish myth, now.
T_Brunhilde: His legend comes from the time before the Celts were in Ireland.
T_Brunhilde: The tribes back then were known as the Tuatha de Danaan.
T_Brunhilde: That is pronounced tooth-a.
La...La...: hu is actually psychic??
T_Brunhilde: Debbora is.
T_Brunhilde: His legend is tied to harvest festivals.
T_Brunhilde: No, they celebrated and danced.
InkedUpMonstar: what about if I enroll at the Psychic school
InkedUpMonstar: what kind of courses do you teach there
T_Brunhilde: Well, history for one.
kung_fu_panda: if i come to psychic school can i be a wizard like harry ?
InkedUpMonstar: is that like a single serving of history
InkedUpMonstar: cuz I'm kinda a fatty
InkedUpMonstar: I would need history for at least two
T_Brunhilde: No, you're just big-boned.
T_Brunhilde: Foiled again!
T_Debbora: Psychic Self-improvement...Inked
T_Brunhilde: We believe that everyone has psychic ability.
T_Debbora: Me too
T_Brunhilde: Well, if you have never used it, it will be weak.
T_Brunhilde: But it is a normal, natural ability that everyone has.
kung_fu_panda: ye yoda told me that one
InkedUpMonstar: deborah, is there a large heavyset woman in my future?
InkedUpMonstar: I bet there is
T_Brunhilde: "Always in motion, is the future."
kung_fu_panda: no no no your talking about empathy
kung_fu_panda: and simple able o read body language
T_Debbora: Sorry I don't look unless it's formal.
T_Brunhilde: I don't read body language.
T_Brunhilde: LOL!
T_Brunhilde: Getting back to the Tuatha de Danaan, they may be the origin of the stories of the elves.
TerriGHGIT: So what kind of rituals did they do?
T_Brunhilde: The "little people" of Ireland.
T_Brunhilde: When Ireland was invaded by the Celts, the indigenous people fought back.
T_Debbora: <---Loves little people!
T_Brunhilde: but they lost and retreated into the shadows and the mist.
T_Brunhilde: After that time, they lingered on.
T_Brunhilde: But they were only seen by the Celts far off in the distance.
T_Brunhilde: They would never come close and interact.
T_Brunhilde: But they did at one time exist in great numbers in Ireland.
T_Brunhilde: 3000-2000 BC.
T_Brunhilde: I didn't realized Hellboy delved into Neolithic times.
T_Brunhilde: I'll have to give that literature another chance.
InkedUpMonstar: yes
T_Debbora: I loved the Hell-boy film - good stuff in it - good shooting locations.
T_Brunhilde: Never read the Sun.
Draks: I enjoyed it.
T_Brunhilde: I haven't seen the movie yet, Deb, is it good?
TerriGHGIT: It was pretty good
InkedUpMonstar: whats the link for the school, I'm going to go enroll now
T_Brunhilde: I am REALLY looking forward to the new X-Files movie.
T_Brunhilde: That just kind came out of nowhere.
T_Brunhilde: Suddenly it was being launched.
Draks: Like Lost Boys II
T_Brunhilde: LOL!
T_Debbora: Good film good plot, Ron Peralman stars - good acting.
InkedUpMonstar: yes
T_Brunhilde: This is weird, I see all the names typing and nothing comes through.
T_Debbora: http://www.PsychicSchoolHouse.com
T_Brunhilde: Not yet.
T_Debbora: Might be my banishing spell - LOL!
T_Brunhilde: Speaking of...those are very effective for harvest festivals.
T_Brunhilde: Yep, this is the right season for banishing.
T_Debbora: Yeppers...
SuperShyGirl: banishing?
T_Debbora: To bad we can't use it on the weather!
TerriGHGIT2 has joined.
T_Brunhilde: We just had a public voodoo ceremony for assistance with the hurricane season.
TerriGHGIT2: I'm twins again...
Draks:
T_Debbora: I love it!
TerriGHGIT2: Lost the internet connection
TerriGHGIT2: I'm not psychotic! LOL
Draks: Your blinking again dear!
InkedUpMonstar: awesome, I'm gonna start a tv show called Psychic School House Rocks
T_Debbora: I love twins
T_Debbora: What I had in mind when I named this school - it rocks for everyone.
T_Brunhilde: Certainly does for me. It is truly unique.
TerriGHGIT2: Yep!
Draks: yes indeed
T_Brunhilde: Harvest festivals are often associated with gods and goddesses of death.
T_Debbora: So how do we celebrate Lugsagnas?
Guest_85427: Nice name.
TerriGHGIT2: Yes
Sniper.x.Deem.Royal.x.: She asked why you were being so quiet...
harddickonjohn: any women
T_Brunhilde: Harvest in your garden or someone else's.
T_Brunhilde: With their permission, of course!
a2k_plus-5: we celebrate it with babes
T_Debbora: Oh I'm in luck then I have 100!
T_Brunhilde: Concentrate on harvest foods in your region.
T_Brunhilde: Give thanks to Mother Earth for her generosity.
TerriGHGIT2: We've been harvesting figs, butternut squash, tomatoes, spagetti squash, peppers and such
T_Brunhilde: Gather seeds to save for next year's planting.
a2k_plus-5: give thanx to mothers for producing more too
Sniper.x.Deem.Royal.x.: JELLY!!!
T_Brunhilde: And, of course, banishing rituals.
TerriGHGIT2: What kind of sacrifices did they give to the earth? Salt?
T_Debbora: Tomatoes, peppers and Blueberries!
T_Brunhilde: You should always try to match your spell work to the energy of the earth.
a2k_plus-5: apples - bananas
TerriGHGIT2: We don't have blueberries
T_Brunhilde: Since Mother Earth is clearing out her fields, we can do the same.
TerriGHGIT2: I have a question on banishing
Sniper.x.Deem.Royal.x.: What are you people talking about?
T_Brunhilde: Shoot.
TerriGHGIT2: For lack of a better way to put it, to what extent do you banish someone?
TerriGHGIT2: Like, just getting them out of your life?
T_Brunhilde: You don't. You examine the situation carefully.
T_Brunhilde: You should try to banish your negative reactions to that person.
TerriGHGIT2: I've never been clear on banishment and how it effects things
T_Debbora: It's a way to protect a room...or space
T_Brunhilde: Also, don't forget a good old-fashioned SHIELD.
T_Debbora: Yep that works
TerriGHGIT2: Yeah, I keep forgetting shielding
TerriGHGIT2: I just
T_Brunhilde: I don't try to banish people; it's too dangerous.
Draks: You need you shield right now
T_Brunhilde: You can never know what else you may affecting.
T_Brunhilde: Remember: Harm None.
TerriGHGIT2: Yeah, I hear people talking about banishing people and it just seems like bad
TerriGHGIT2: karma
T_Brunhilde: Terri, you are correct, it IS bad karma and don't get caught up in it.
TerriGHGIT2: Yeah, I was worried about effecting too much other stuff to banish a person
T_Brunhilde: Try to work on your reaction to that person instead.
T_Debbora: Shielding is faster.
T_Brunhilde: You CAN control that.
TerriGHGIT2: Yes
T_Brunhilde: And the shield will only affect you personally.
TerriGHGIT2: There is a woman at work that seems to have a problem with me and I haven't done
T_Brunhilde: And he will never know what hit him LOL!
TerriGHGIT2: anything to provoke it
hotsweatybuttxo went to room: LobbyRoom
T_Brunhilde: Strange people in the chat room tonight...
T_Brunhilde: LOL!
T_Brunhilde: Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.
Draks: you can say that again!
TerriGHGIT2: LOL
TerriGHGIT2: As I was saying before all of the craziness....
Draks: Or at least every week!
T_Brunhilde: So Draks, have you and Terri gone ghost hunting yet?
TerriGHGIT2: This woman at work has a problem with me
TerriGHGIT2: I didn't do anything to her but exist.
Draks: No I cannot then loaded up to go.
T_Brunhilde: I'm sorry to hear that Terri.

T_Debbora: Yes no brainer kind! LOL
T_Brunhilde: Type more accurately...learn internet lingo...

TerriGHGIT2: LOL
T_Brunhilde: That's why I know so much about history...because I am so out of date.
T_Debbora: We have some but we haven't had time to install it yet.
TerriGHGIT2: I always used to think I was born in the wrong time and that I should not be here
Draks: Oh I'm a history buff also!
T_Debbora: <---love history
Draks: Good Deb
T_Brunhilde: Probably resonating with your past lives...
TerriGHGIT2: I felt sooo out of place when I was a kid
Draks: Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg
T_Brunhilde: Talking about the ancient past feel very comfortable, doesn't it?
T_Debbora: I don't think that is out of time...
T_Brunhilde: Familiar, somehow.
TerriGHGIT2: Some of it. Some of the past just bores me
T_Debbora: I used to think that about myself.
TerriGHGIT2: Its like history was interesting and great till we got past the civil war.
TerriGHGIT2: After that, its just like I can't learn any of that.
T_Debbora: I had a friend tell me I was pulling too hard on time.
T_Brunhilde: Pulling too hard on time? Explain.
T_Debbora: She said my "sight" was always pulling ahead 10 to 20 years.
T_Brunhilde: Ooohh.
21_m: who is psychic in here?
T_Debbora: That would put me out of balance in the now. See?
T_Brunhilde: Debbora.
T_Brunhilde: Yes, yes it would.
Draks: I see
T_Debbora: I had to do a little re-calibration! LOL
T_Brunhilde: Draks, is that a pun?
Draks: LOL No i didn't mean it that way!
T_Brunhilde: An accidental pun...the best kink.
Draks: yep!
T_Debbora: I predicted airport internet machines - drawing and all 10 years before they hit
T_Brunhilde: Kind, I meant KIND.

TerriGHGIT2: Isis is passed out on the couch
TerriGHGIT: I have a question about Lughnasa
T_Brunhilde: Go ahead.
TerriGHGIT: Did you ever answer about what kind of offering you should give the earth?
T_Brunhilde: Offerings of the harvest, whatever is being harvested in your region.
T_Brunhilde: Make up a little bouqet of grain, corn, squash, etc. Leave it out where the animals
T_Brunhilde: Can partake of it. Put it out in your yard on out in a park, or open field.
T_Brunhilde: Place it on the ground and publicly say thanks for the bounty of the earth.

T_Debbora: 10 BILLON ants in it - in an hour!
T_Debbora: Groan!
T_Brunhilde: In and around my city, there are farms where you can go and pick for free.
T_Debbora: That's sweet.
T_Brunhilde: The farmers there open their fields to anyone for a small fee.
T_Brunhilde: You can go pick berries, and other fall vegetable.
TerriGHGIT: Nice
T_Debbora: Nice to see someone reinstating the Gleaning law!
Draks: There are a few places around here like that.
T_Brunhilde: I like to take those and make a small basket as an offering to the Harvest Mother.
TerriGHGIT: There are?
T_Brunhilde: I leave it out under the oak tree across the street. The squirrels go nuts.
T_Brunhilde: they love it.

Draks: Nice garden too
TerriGHGIT: Mom always feeds the birds. She buys seeds all year round.
T_Debbora: Had a mom Possum and 3 babies who would come every night
T_Brunhilde: The most important thing is that you take the time to stand there and pray.
TerriGHGIT: So I guess she kind of gives thanks.
T_Brunhilde: Tell the Great Mother that you appreciate her blessings every fall.
T_Brunhilde: Grain bread, barley cakes, nuts, apples, etc.
T_Debbora: Sorry had to go tuck hubby in and my connection quit!
