Dynamic Energy and Pendulums
By Debbora Wiles
The use of the pendulum as an energy reading device dates back almost to the origins of mankind. Some believe that the pendulum began as a carpenter’s tool – in which a weighted bead is tied to the end of a sting and allowed to hang free. This tool today is called a “plumb bob” and is used for hanging wall paper and other jobs where the user wants things to hang or built things straight in a vertical line. Plumb bob’s are even depicted in drawings in ancient Egyptian art.
From these humble origins, the pendulum has spread into many other areas of use and the name has changed to according to the many tasks they do. Likely in handing it as a leveling tool, they ancient builder also noted that the simple pendulum was sensitive to all energy fields. The next ancient use of the pendulum came as a dowsing device when it was discovered that certain people could locate water underground by watching the motion of a pendulum. Finding water in Egypt would be magic indeed! Later the natural properties of the pendulum expanded to include medical diagnostics, a divination tool and communication device with nonphysical entities. The properties of the pendulum has not changed in thousands of years, yet this simple device is as powerful today as it was at the dawn of time.
How the Pendulum Works
With a simple string and any attached weight, a pendulum is naturally sensitive to the flux and movement of dynamic energy in any given area. For example, it notes tiny eddies of energy above the ground when water is present beneath it. It also notes minuet changes in the energy fields near the human body and away from it. So we might call the pendulum an ultra sensitive sensor to the natural dynamic energy fields that surrounds all things.
The pendulum is also extremely accurate as you can get the same results with repeated readings even by different people. So it’s no wonder that pendulums have stayed with us for centuries and have evolved to include so many applications in earth science, communications, healing, and in divination.
How to Make a Pendulum
You can make a pendulum with about seven inches of thread or string and any weight strong enough to pull the thread taught. That can be a heavy button, a stone, a bead or even a heavy paper clip will do in a tight. You just tie the weight to one end of the string or thread and hold the other end in your hand and allow the other end to hang free.
People who use pendulums usually select the materials they are made from based on the specific task they intend to use the pendulum for. For example, if you intend to use a pendulum to find water, then the pendulum is usually made from a natural earthy stone like soap stone, granite or a base metal like brass or steel. This pointed pendulum is then attached to simple string or piece of flexible hemp. Usually these are made quiet heavy to withstand the elements like wind and rain with field use.
For more delicate work like working with nature spirits, doing divination work or working with human aura body fields for healing then usually a crystal or gem stone is selected. These stones are usually suspended with a chain in either silver or gold.
The reason gem stones are chosen for this kind of work is because they hold more energy. For centuries they put gem stones inside wind up watches because jeweler knew that the stones helped the movement of the parts and watches with gem stones required less winding. This is because the stones pick up energy and slowly release it. LED crystal quarts electronics are used in the same way, to hold and slowly release energy to make machines run smoother.
How to Choose Your Stone
When you select a stone to be used in either divination or healing work, you need to select one based on the FEEL of it. Think of your body as a biological machine. So when you select a stone to work with your specific energy, you need to do that by feel. Each kind of stone will have its own kind of energy – even stones made of the same material. You might say that each stone has its own energy personality and signature. The task is to find one that works well with your specific energy. The beauty and “look” of the stone should come last in your selection considerations.
Also you need to consider how you will be using the stone. If you plan on using the stone to work with the elementals in your garden a natural clear crystal quartz stone may be best. If you are going to do healing work with your own body then you can pick almost any stone that works will with your energy. As a general rule, clear or smoky natural crystals tend to hold and send more directed energy for healing work. While darker stones tend to work better at slow release energy.
Here’s how to select your stone.
1.Pick out a few stones that draw your eye. Do not select by “favorite color” or to match clothing or your cell phone color.
Pendulum stones are always selected by compatible energy – NOT color. Once you have selected a few stones, line them up in front of you and pick them up one at a time and close your hand around them.
2.Hold the stone in your hand. How does if feel? Warm or cold?
A stone compatible with your energy should feel fairly warm. It should feel good against your skin.
3. Take a few deep breaths, close your eyes and feel the energy of the stone.
Does it feel good to you? How does your body interact with it?
In feeling the stone, you want too look for interactions between your body and the stone, does it make you feel more energized? More calm? Happy? Sad? Does it make your skin crawl? Does your heart rate go up? If you get any bad or uncomfortable “vibes” with the stone – it is not working with your energy. Set the bad vibe stones to one side and the good vibe stone to the other side.
4. Once you have a selection of “good vibe” stones in front of you retest them all again.
Purchase the stone that feels best to you generally – the one that feels best against your skin - The one that makes you feel energized, strong and happy. This will be one that works best with your energy.
How to Clean Your Stone
If you are going to use the stone in divination or healing work, you need to clean the stone first. Keep in mind that stones are very good at holding psychic energy and if a 100 people have touched that stone then their psychic energy will be in it too. So in a way of looking at it is like a computer disk with data already written on it. So the first thing you want to do is erase any psychic energy in the stone. So the first step is to clean it.
Once you get the stone home, take a cup of water and dissolve 1 teaspoon of kosher salt or sea salt into the water. Drop your pendulum into it and let it soak for at least an hour. If the stone is large or given to you by someone else, let it soak for 24 hours. After the soak time is done, remove the pendulum and wash it with mild soap or put it in a jewelry bath for a few minutes. Dry it on a soft cloth, your stone is now clean and it’s ready to be charged.
How to Charge a Pendulum
Charging a crystal is like programming it to work with your specific energy. This is easy to do and only takes a few minutes. Once you charge your pendulum it is wise not to let other people touch it. After all you don’t want their energy program over writing YOUR energy program. If someone does touch your pendulum after you have charged it, you need to put it back in the salt bath and start over. So this is how you change your stone.
1. Hold the pendulum in your dominate hand and close your fingers around it – palm up. Make sure all the stone, chain and/or counter weight stone is all in your hand.
2.Take several cleansing breaths and clear you mind.
3.Think about the pure radiant healing light of the universe beaming down into your hand. Let that light gather all around your hand for a minute or so.
4. Next think about pressing that energy into the pendulum – with your mind think PRESS.
5. Gather and press energy into the stone three times.
6. Your pendulum is now programmed with your energy and now ready for use.
Understanding Pendulum Movements
The pendulum has a limited number of ways it can answer questions or give data. This is one of the beautiful things about using the pendulum. The pendulum moves in response to energy fields both in the earth and within the aura bodies of all living things. Once your pendulum is programmed to your energy, it will adapt the best way to communicate with you.
The Swing: Some pendulums respond to energy by moving in a swinging motion. A positive or YES answer will cause the pendulum to move from left to right horizontal to the body. A negative or NO answer will cause the pendulum to move in a forward and back motion to and away from the body.
The Circle: Some pendulums move in circles – this is often the kind of response your pendulum will give you when you work in close to the body checking the thousands of energy fields that are close in to the body. A positive or YES answer is when the pendulum circles clockwise. A negative or NO answer is when the pendulum moves in a counterclockwise direction.
No Movement: No movement in the pendulum can mean several things. Either you were unclear about the information you wanted, or the answer is too complex for a yes or no answer. Also it could be you have assigned a task to it that it cannot communicate. In doing healing work within the bodies aura body, when the pendulum goes still it means that the energy field in that place has stopped working or is too weak to move the pendulum.
I once had my pendulum stop just over the left side of my body. I didn’t know what that meant until about four hours later when I was bowled over with pain and was taken to ER. They diagnosed my pancreas had stopped working – a three day hospital stay and a lot of mediation got it working again. Put the pendulum found it first and now I check it from time to time.
Shaking: A shaking pendulum can mean several things too. It can mean it’s getting outside interference from another energy field – which can mean you need to move to another location or put up a psychic shield. Sometimes in working with garden elementals the shaking will mean laugher. For example, I got distracted one day and asked my garden Deva if she wanted me to plant the banana tree left or right of the path. What I got was a shaking pendulum – she knew that right of the path would put in the tree in koi pool! So she laughed at me and showed me that with a shaking pendulum.
How to Use a Pendulum
Using a pendulum is fast, easy and fun. With one well charged pendulum you can check on many things and even ask yes and no questions or and/or questions just about anywhere about anything. Here is how to use it.
1. For accurate answers always shield your self first. To learn how to make a psychic shield see the article in the PSH library: Psychic Shields for Everyday Use: http://www.psychicschoolhouse.com/library.htm
2. Take a couple of deep breaths, relax and clear your mind.
3. Form a single question in your mind that can be answered in a Yes, or No way.
4. Pick up the small end your pendulum and between your forefinger and thumb and curl your hand inward so your arm and hand forms a question mark ?
5. Allow the weighted end of the pendulum to dangle free – leave 4 to 5 inches of space needs to be between your fingers and the weighted end of the pendulum. If you don’t have steady hands brace your elbow on a table.
6. Still the pendulum with your other hand and clear you mind and ask your question.
7. Record the pendulum’s motion and the answers you get to each question.
8. Still the pendulum’s motion between each question.
9. Once you are finished, drop your shield and carefully put away your pendulum.
Pendulum No-No’s
1. Pendulums work best with energy fields, aura bodies and as a communication device between you and higher self or elementals. Pendulums are never good at answering questions regarding things like “love” and should never be employed to make major decisions in your life. They are an indicator tool only.
2. A cleaned and charged pendulum is a PERSONAL precision tool. After each use it should be put wrapped in a soft cloth and put away. A lipstick case or change purse works well for storing pendulums.
3. Never let anyone touch your pendulum once you have it cleaned and charged. If someone else touches it you will need to clean and recharge it before you trust the data it gives you.
4. Don’t take one reading and act on it. Test your answers several times, remember that energy changes moment by moment and day by day.
Every Day Uses for Pendulums
Consulting your pendulum can save you time, money and effort on many every day things.
1. Use it to get a count on “how many” you will need. For example, if you are going to a pot luck dinner you can ask I need to bring 12, 24 or 48 cupcakes?
2. Use it to pick out trees, plants or seeds for your house or garden. Hold the pendulum above the item and ask is this good for my garden at this time? How many will I need? If I buy this sick plant will it live? Is this pumpkin ready to pick?
3. Use the pendulum to plant everything in your yard or garden to get energy balanced plants every time.
4. Use it to test the energy in a time frame. Will Saturday be a good energy time to plan a party? Is Tuesday a good day to ask for a raise?
5. Hold the pendulum about 6 inches out from any body – if the pendulum slows down to almost nothing or stops somewhere it’s time for a check-up.
6. Use the pendulum the same way to find problems with pets or plants.
7. Use a pendulum to check for water leaks, locate lost items or to locate things you need.
8. Use a pendulum to test foods. Some foods are good for the body other’s are not, use the pendulum to test them. Is this good for my body? Am I allergic to this?
9. Use it to find base causes. Why is Fido always digging up my daisies? Is it the smell? Has he buried food there?
10. Use a pendulum to stabilize energy in meditation or in prayer.
11. A pendulum can be used to chat with crossed over light beings (always protected.)
12. Use a pendulum to direct energy for healing or for calming a situation.
The pendulum is an extremely portable tool and will easily slip into a watch pocket, a change purse and a lipstick case and can go anywhere. It’s a wonderful tool that is sensitive, accurate and fun to use. It’s like having your own personal mini psychic at your beck and call. How great is that?
I will be doing a workshop on working with pendulums this month. Bring your pendulum and come join the fun.

The Celebration of Imbolc

IMBOLC: Pronounced “im-BOWL-g” or im-MOL-g. The term means “in the belly,” a reference to the pregnancy of the female animals in the herds and the approaching fertility of the earth. Another name for this holiday is Oimelc pronounced “oy-melk,” meaning “ewe’s milk,” since the ewes were lactating for their new lambs. Festival occurs around February 1st-2nd. Also called Candlemas.
This time marks the midway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, or as they were once called, Yule and Ostara. Have you noticed any changes in your local environment, any trees beginning to bud? Although the temperatures may still be cold, nature is well aware of the increasing solar energy. The earth has been dormant for quite a while. What signs do you see that signal an awakening?
In ancient times, the herdsmen would look for signs of lactation among the female animals. It was a signal of impending births, springtime and warmer temperatures. Hunters in the forests would also be on the lookout for animal tracks; specifically, the tracks of animals known to hibernate. If these animals had come out of hibernation, that too was a sign of impending spring. Our modern celebration of “Ground Hog Day” carries the same ideas of Imbolc—looking to animals for indications of the season and a reawakening out of dormancy.
One of the basic themes for this holiday is the celebration of the maiden. It was a time when the world seemed to be awakening from its long winter sleep. The earth was envisioned as a virginal your woman, fresh and ready for life. Although the air might still be frosty, the increased solar energy from the longer days and the sun arcing higher in the sky meant that warmth and growth were coming soon.
The goddess in your youthful phase was celebrated at this festival. She was known by many names in ancient times: Brigid, Bride, Brede, Brigit, Brigantia, and many others. She was associated with poetry, healing, smithcraft and fire.
Indeed, Imbolc is one of the old cross-quarter holidays. The most popular way to celebrate it was by lighting huge bonfires on the hillsides.
Down through the ages, it seems that many ancient goddesses were transformed into Christian saints, as Christianity replace the earlier pagan religions of Europe. Such is the case with the goddess Brigit. She came to be associated with the Irish Catholic Saint Brigid. The old Celtic holiday, on February 1st, became the feast day of the saint. And many of the elements originally associated with the goddess became attributes of the saint as well. The Irish St. Brigid was also known to possess powerful abilities to heal sickness. And her church in County Kildare became a sanctuary where a perpetual fire was tended in her honor by the nuns there. It is believed that her Christian church was built upon an earlier existing Druidic shrine, where a similar perpetual flame was tended by priestesses of that religion. So again, we see an ancient religious practice that evolved to accommodate a later one.
The perpetual flame tended by the Catholic nuns was so strongly viewed by some as a distinctly pagan practice that in 1220 AD the archbishop of Dublin finally had it extinguished! You will be glad to know that in 1993 the St Brigid shrine was relocated to a private site by the Brigidine Sisters in Kildare and the flame was relit by Sister Mary Teresa Cullen. Since then the sisters have kept the flame alight at their spiritual center, Solas Bhride. And the Church administration has relaxed their stance somewhat. Brigid’s flame is commemorated in the lighting of a fire on her feast day, February 1st, at the original fire site on the grounds of the cathedral in Kildare.
If you are looking for ways to decorate you home to celebrate this ancient holiday, choose the colors of white, pink, and red. Decorate with flowers, candles, and ribbons in those colors. You many also want to feature a Brigit’s Cross, show in the picture below.

Typical Brigit’s Cross

Brigit’s Cross Center
They are easily made by weaving strands of material around the center. You can even make them of white, pink, and red ribbon. I like to make them for friends in need of healing or protection, as an amulet. As you weave the strands, meditate on the person you wish to help. Project an image of them in your mind. Envision them healthy, protected and smiling. See them surrounded by a bright white light.
When you have finished it, seal it with a kiss. Give it to them as a gift.
Blessed Be.

The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius:
A Rare Astrological Concentration
Jude Currivan, Ph.D.
Reprinted from the Prophets Newsletter
_____________________________________________________________
The most profound spiritual traditions of ancient times perceived the manifest world, at all scales of existence as being generated and pervaded by a cosmic trinity of active, passive and neutral principles – the divine essence of the masculine, feminine and child. The Vedic sages of ancient India saw the male/active life-force energy they called the pingala and the female/passive energy they called the ida weaving around and through our chakras and the child/neutral energy they called the shushumna as channeling up through them.
When these divine masculine and feminine energies are balanced and so able to fully ‘birth’ the divine child energies within us, the ancient sages saw the so-called kundalini energy that otherwise lies dormant at the base of the spine, surge through us enabling us to fully embody our divine nature.
The purpose of the sacred marriage between the divine feminine and masculine that the ancient peoples, such as those of Malta, enacted in their temples was thus not only to bring cosmic harmony and fertility to their land but within themselves. For such balance enables the energetic activation or ‘birth’ of the divine child within us and the attainment of enlightenment.
When this cosmic trinity of consciousness is harmonized and fully expressed within us, we are truly ‘healed’ and ‘whole’ as embodied by the universal symbol of the caduceus as a representation of healing from earliest times.
For millennia, only the highest adepts understood and have attained such wholeness. But elders and mystics around the world are saying that now is the time, when we have evolved to a point where we are all able to awaken our inner divinity.
This is our spiritual destiny at the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

End of This Age, courtesy of San Francisco Sentinel
In mid February, we are offered cosmic support to this re-membering of who we really are, by a rare astrological concentration that brings together a number of planets together with the North Node – denoting higher purpose - in Aquarius. And which energizes and inspires the possibility for transcendental breakthrough and healing.
We measure our global sense of both space (longitude) and time (universal time - UT or GMT) from the prime meridian located at Greenwich, England. We can perceive the collective influence of this momentous astrological event by looking at the alignment from this globally ‘centered’ perspective. When we do, something extraordinary and exquisite emerges.
At dawn on 14th February the day dedicated to St Valentine, the patron saint of Love, the Moon in Libra enters the seventh house of relationships. And Jupiter and Mars are aligned in Aquarius in the twelfth house of spiritual transformation.
Forty years ago, the intuitive words of a song called Aquarius, brought the dawning of the new age into our collective awareness:
When the Moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars.
At dawn on 14th February the Cosmos actually embodies this perfect alignment to support our collective manifestation of love and peace and the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.
The Aquarian chart of 14th February reveals an incredible concentration of cosmic influences blending with the energies of Aquarius in the twelfth house. Expansive Jupiter and energetic Mars are aligned with the higher purpose of the North Node. The presence of Chiron the wounded healer offers us the opportunity to heal the schisms that have separated us for so long. Neptune emphasizes collective humanitarian movements and the co-creation of social justice. And the presence of the radiant Sun enlightens the entire alignment.
Mercury also in the twelfth house but just beyond the cusp in Capricorn, allies with transformational Pluto to communicate and anchor the Shift throughout our global structures and institutions.
The Moon in Libra in the seventh house emphasizes harmonious real –ationships.
Venus in Aries in the first house energizes and empowers dynamic co-creativity.
And whilst Saturn the great task master in opposition to Uranus the unexpected awakener is suggesting an ongoing confrontation as the dregs of the unsustainable old paradigm reluctantly give way to the untested hope of the new, their placements in Virgo and Pisces brings practical altruism and visionary inspiration to the transition.

Alignment view from the horizon
At 7.25am on 14th February – and for the 18 minutes of the alignment, I invite you, in the universal heart, to add your own intention for love and peace and to co-create the dawning of the Age of Aquarius to that of the Cosmos. In whatever way feels appropriate for you, you may choose to align with7.25am (UT) or 7.25am your own local time energizing a wave of intention that will surge around the Earth.
Having searched for over a thousand years, I can find no other alignments in the past of this incredible significance. But amazingly, at one moment in time nearly fifty years ago, the collective voices of our ancient ancestors seem to have been given such a cosmic voice to energetically seed this coming Age and the birth of the Aquarian human.
In 1962 at the same time on the same day, as 2009, Jupiter and Mars were in Aquarius in the twelfth house and the Moon in the seventh house. But then the awesome concentration of planets that energize the 2009 alignment was missing.
And instead of the North Node (higher purpose) being aligned with Jupiter and Mars as it is in 2009, it was in opposition.
What this means is that back in 1962 it was the so-called south node rather than the north node that was aligned with Jupiter and Mars.
The south node represents what we bring in from the past. So in 1962 the potential for us the birth the Age of Aquarius came through from our collective race memory - but only now are we able to fully manifest its higher purpose. In 1962 we essentially took a collective in-breath of possibility and now with the cosmic support of the Aquarian alignment of 14th February 2009 we are able to take the out-breath and make it happen.
The second verse of the song Aquarius is;
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Magic crystal revelation
And the minds true liberation
Aquarius!
Aquarius!
In our sacred journey to Malta we will join our voices to those of our ancestors and all the peacemakers throughout the millennia that hoped for and sought to co-create Heaven on Mother Earth. Their intentions and hard work kept the possibility of this vision alive. And in our time, we have the opportunity to realize their dreams and ours and enable a HoMecoming for us all!
